Town twinning had a very busy year in 2016 organizing the many events and preparing a very packed programme to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of town twinning in Leixlip and Bressuire but also to commemorate the centenary of the !916 Rising. By contrast 2017 was a quieter year. Bressuire started the St Patrick's Day celebrations in early March with their whiskey tasting soiree tasting no fewer than 6 Irish whiskies. The film festival in May screened the Irish film Sing Street The Highland Games took place in Bressuire on 10th/ 11th June, The delegation who travelled from Leixlip to Bressuire for the games included Paddy Lennon, Sean Kavanagh, Jenny Kenny and the dancers from Scoil Rince Mobhi along with their teacher Aedin Ui Mhaoleidigh
