As part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Leixlip-Bressuire
twinning and following the success of the two recent visits to Bressuire this
summer, Leixlip Town Twinning Association is hosting a Bastille Day
“soirée” on the 14 th July in Confey GAA Club and all are welcome.
“We have held various events to mark Bastille Day here in Leixlip over the years”, said
Marian Lyons, Secretary to the Town Twinning Association, “but obviously not for
several years now”. “We have enjoyed a game of boules in the grounds of Leixlip
Library, a showing of the film Amélie, an evening of song and poetry and a French
quiz, among other activities”, said Marian. “This year we have Confey Community Band
to entertain us and we expect some of our “old friends” will delight us with their
repertoire of French songs.”
“We will be showcasing our website”, said Marian, “and there will be a bienvenue for
anyone curious to learn more about what we do in the Twinning Association”.
Wine and finger food will be served from 8pm.
A small delegation from Leixlip has just returned from the bi-annual Highland Games in
Bressuire on 11th and 12th June. Paddy Lennon, Chairperson of Leixlip Town Twinning

warm welcome is always extended to people from Leixlip. “The Games were a great
success as usual”, said Paddy, “with Irish and Scottish entertainment including a great
march past of pipe bands, always an impressive sight and sound.
We hope our relationship with Bressuire will continue for many years to come”, said
